Warwick, RI March 31, 2026: Warwick native and cybersecurity professional Dana James Traversie today announced their candidacy for State Representative, launching an “ACT for Warwick” agenda and calling for new, accountable leadership as the district approaches a potential transition.

It is evident that current Representative, and Speaker of the House, Joe Shekarchi is calculating his next move. Whether the Speaker plans to pursue higher office or prepares to be handed a judgeship, Dana said the moment demands a leader ready to deliver results on day one.

Warwick cannot afford uncertainty or politics as usual,” said Dana. “This is a moment that calls for action. That is exactly what my campaign is about. It’s time to ACT for Warwick.”

Born and raised in Warwick, Dana is stepping forward to represent a community they have lived in their entire life, as many families face rising costs, high taxes, and growing frustration with government accountability.

My ACT Agenda is simple,” Dana said. “Affordability and Accountability means lowering costs and making government answer to the people. Community and Civil Rights means protecting our neighborhoods, our schools, and our rights. Taxation and Tax Reform means delivering fair taxes and real relief for working families, veterans, and seniors. Warwick deserves leadership that delivers results, not excuses.”

With more than 20 years in the cybersecurity industry, Dana has built a career focused on solving complex problems, managing risk, and protecting critical systems. They say those same skills are urgently needed in state government.

I’ve spent my career identifying threats, cutting through noise, and fixing problems before they spiral,” Dana said. “That is the mindset we need in the State House right now. Focused, disciplined, and accountable.”

Beyond their professional experience, Dana is deeply rooted in the Warwick community as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu student and youth coach, working directly with local families and helping mentor the next generation. Dana lives in Warwick with his wife and two children, ages 10 and 12, and is committed to building a community where local families can thrive.

Regardless of what the Speaker intends to do in the coming days, no legislative seat should ever go unchallenged. This campaign is about stepping up for the community that raised me,” Dana added. “Warwick deserves a representative who shows up, listens, and takes action.”

Dana will be announcing campaign events and opportunities for community engagement in the coming weeks.
